Stoke Bruerne Cricket Club was formed in 1950 by local members, and had played the majority of their cricket in the Northampton Town League.
The George Tarry Cricket Ground had been donated by George so the club would have their own piece of land within the village to play and soon after the pavilion was built as a source of community development.
The likes of the Smith's, Stimson's & Robinson's are synonymous with the club's history and were some of the many stalwarts that anchored the clubs roots within the county leagues for many years.
The club found success within both the Northants County League as well as the Wolverton Cup in which they had been a prominent team throughout their time in the competitions.
However, the availability of players became a significant issue in the final few seasons due to the majority of players being students. Eventually the club was unable to continue as it had been and removed themselves from the NCL.
Spencer Cricket Club originated in Northampton in the early 1950's and was formed by a group of young men who were friends from Spencer Estate located near to the Dallington area of Northampton.
The backbone of the team comprised of brothers from the large Burdett family; Norman, Ralph, Alan & Pete with other prominent members being David Eyre and Joe Garnett to name several. They all enjoyed cricket but didn't have a regular team where they could all play together, so they decided to form Spencer C.C. and so began their long history.
Spencer C.C.'s home ground for many years wasDallington Park and they had played there from their beginnings well in to the late 90's when, unfortunately, the pitch was no longer prepared or maintained by the local authority and so their home ground was lost.
At around the same time, the Northampton Town Cricket League was failing and sadly ended soon thereafter.
Instead of folding, the club decided to join the Northamptonshire Cricket League and over the next several years played at various grounds before finding a new home at the George Tarry Cround in Stoke Bruerne.
Spencer Bruerne Cracket Club was then formed in 2014 as an amalgamation of Stoke Bruerne Cricket Club and Spencer Cricket Club. Both clubs at the time had been struggling for numbers and so the approach had been to merge clubs to secure the future of cricket to be played at the George Tarry Cricket Ground.
Spencer Bruerne C.C. have now steadily worked up the leagues and have also been T20 Plate Cup Finalists twice.
